Brain Injuries
Sometimes, when people are involved in a motor vehicle collision, or other traumatic event, they can suffer a head injury that leads to a traumatic brain injury, or TBI. Seemingly minor impacts can create these devastating injuries.
The most important aspect of a traumatic brain injury is that it can adversely effect the thinking, personality, or emotional state of the victim. If a person suffers a minor brain injury their behavior may change (they may be angrier, depressed, and moody), they may have an inability to concentrate or focus, and they may be more forgetful.
In more serious brain injuries, the injured person might lose the ability to think at a high level, they might lose the ability to process information rapidly, they might have short and long term memory loss, and they may lose the ability to care for themselves.
Sometimes, a person who has suffered a traumatic brain injury has improvement in their symptoms and makes a complete recovery. Unfortunately, sometimes a person’s symptoms worsen over time.
