A HEAD INJURY ATTORNEY
Sadly, when people are involved in a motor vehicle collision, or other traumatic event, they can suffer a head injury that leads to a traumatic brain injury, or TBI. Seemingly minor impacts can create these devastating injuries.
Common head injuries are open head injuries and closed head injuries. Open head injuries are injuries that puncture the skull cavity and allow air or liquid to penetrate into the skull. A closed head injury does not puncture the skull. A concussion, or loss of consciousness is an example of a closed head injury. Both open and closed head injuries can cause brain injuries.
Brain injuries can range from mild to severe. A mild brain injury might only have a limited effect on a person’s mood or personality. In more severe brain injuries, the injured person’s thinking and emotions might be profoundly effected. The injured person might be unable to care for themselves after such an injury.
